World Cup Soccer 2010

World Cup Soccer 2010 is the nineteenth edition of the World Cup football and ran from June 11 to July 11, 2010 in South Africa. This is the first finals of World Cup competing on African soil. The host country was selected in May 2004.

From August 2007 to November 2009, the national teams from 203 countries participate in a qualifying stage, in order to designate the 31 teams competing for the final tournament along with South Africa, qualified automatically as a country organizer.
This World Cup has been the scene of many firsts, including the elimination of Italy and France, finalists from the previous edition, the first round. In addition, South Africa became the first host of the World Cup does not qualify at the end of the Pool stages. It is also the first time a European country wins outside of its continent.

In addition, the winner is unusual, since Spain had never won a World Cup until this year. The finish itself is also an unprecedented meeting, as Spain and the Netherlands had never met in the World Cup. Finally, it is also the first time the winning team lost its first game. However, a team went undefeated in the finals since New Zealand, despite its elimination at the group stage, scored three draws
